Happy Spring!

Wow! Spring gets really busy, and we don't always remember to take and post pictures, but we try!

We are back from spring break, and our first weeks back have been filled with learning!

Right when we came back from break we sat in a circle and shared about what we did on our week off. I can't help but reflect on how quickly they formed a circle. It sounds like a small thing, but every September, making our first official circle as kindergarteners takes FOREVER.  :)  Really, it takes so long because it is new, and hard to figure out! But now, we sit in a circle so fast it's amazing!

We jumped right into math bins and math workshop with some new games! We are focusing a lot on addition and subtraction right now, and building our understanding and fluency with how numbers work together.

In between math workshop choices we often work together on the carpet for a few minutes with our white board. On this day I was building numbers with base 10 blocks on the camera, and they had to write the number on their boards! (I built 31 this time).

We just finished up our animal unit! Our final projects turned out amazing! We each had an animal that we selected, and we had to design its habitat, showing its food and water source as well as its shelter.

We first sketched out a rough draft......

Then we did a final copy with colored pencils, and taped our plastic animals to them for a fun display!

We had a "gallery walk" so that we could look at everyone's and give compliments/ask questions. It was really fun!

If you haven't seen these yet, stop by! They are hanging in the hallway. They will be part of your child's kindergarten portfolio (along with other work we have been collecting) that will go home at the end of the year.

We are looking forward to another great week of learning and having fun!
