As usual, please look it over carefully, read the information inserted, and let me know if you have any questions! :)
We are also getting ready for our learning celebration next Thursday afternoon and evening! We really hope you can make it! We would love to share our learning with you.
We have been working a lot on addition! The above game is rolling two dice (one with dots and one with a number for using the strategy of counting on) and then covering the answer on a graph. The game below is creating your own equations with tiles and recording them on the sheet. Yes, those are socks on the table - they make great erasers! We put the dry erase marker right inside and they are instant storage too! :)
The number talk table is still a popular place to work on equations! And sometimes Kangaroos come with us. :)
Roll, Add 1 to the number, and cover game with a partner.
Solving equations within five, and using the tiles to help if we need to!
Rolling two dice (one with dots, the other with written numbers) and covering the answer. The number line is there as a tool if we need it!
Racing bears! The roll and race game is a fun way to practice adding!
Last week we also continued our Dr. Seuss inquiry by doing a directed drawing of the Cat in the Hat! They are all sitting here because the drawing is posted on the screen for them. It guides them through the steps. They love these, and I love how their personalities shine through and the end results all look so unique!
We then created our own "Seuss Inspired" characters! The rules were it had to be made up or not seen before, and the creature/character had to have a purpose. We had some FABULOUS ideas coming out! Here they are working hard on creating - I just gave them a half sheet of blank paper. :)
We had some fabulous ideas, like the "Twisty Wisty" who will come clean up your house, the "Zake" who likes rakes, and many more! Your child took these home, so I hope they showed you their creation!
There is always so much happening - more than I can show in pictures, but I hope you enjoy getting a glimpse into your child's school day! We look forward to the learning celebration next week to show you even more!
